Tip #8 To Get Out of Debt: Find cheap or free activities for the family.
Spending time as a family is important, but it doesn’t have to put a dent in the bank account or rack up the credit cards. We have found that you could have quality family fun and not have to spend anything or very minimal. If you are use to spending a lot on family activities, and change your activities to FREE ones, you will be able to save that much more. Remember to put the savings towards one of your debts.
20 Ideas for cheap or free family fun!
Go to the zoo: Many will have free days. (From our experience you need to get there before they open. At least the one we went to) We actually have one that is free all the time we will take the kids to occasionally. Pack a lunch!
Go to the museum: These usually have free days also.
Watch a parade: Our town has a couple of these a year.
Hike at a forest preserve: Excellent exercise and free.
Go to the beach: There are beaches that are free.
Picnics: Bring a frisbee.
Community activities: Check with you town for local activities.
Have a garage sale: Get rid of stuff while clearing out, and making money.
Watch home videos: This is always a fun one!
Movie night with popcorn: Use a movie you have or rent one from Redbox, is cost only $1.00.

Build a blanket fort: The kids love this!
Camp out in the yard: It is a whole lot easier than actually camping. (I like that too, but it is a lot of work for a large family. Multiple tents and everything…) See our Camp out here.
Have the kids help with the cleaning: Working together is always more fun and you will be teaching your children skills and responsibility.
Go to the park: Pack a dink and a snack.
Go on a walk: Get exercise at the same time.
Frisbee Golf: There are several frisbee golf courses in our area. It is good for the whole family, it’s good exercise, and it’s free.
Go on a family bike ride: It doesn't have to be long.
Game night: Find a game or cards to play with the kids.
