Could you Stand to Lose a Few Pounds?

I have always struggled to loose weight after I had a baby, especially as I got older. Part of the problem was, I put on too much weight while I was pregnant. As you may know I am a Shaklee distributor, and a few years ago Shaklee came out with a new weight loss program. This program is amazing, it helps you lose the fat you don’t want and keep the muscle you need, which keeps your metabolism up. This pregnancy I would have a Cinch shake or bar, occasionally, especially when I was on the go, it made it easy for me to have something healthy to eat instead of grabbing something that is junk. It held me over and I wasn’t hungry, as a result, I did not put on nearly as much weight this pregnancy.
Here is a picture of me towards the end of my pregnancy. Not too bad for my 12th baby and being 47 years old. Yeah, I know, I am OLD for being pregnant. The next picture is 5 weeks after her birth. Yay! I am able to fit into my jeans. I continued to have a shake or meal bar once a day.

The Challenge

You go on a diet to lose jiggly fat, but with many diets you’ll also end up losing lean muscle. And that can set you up for future weight regain because muscle is what burns calories. It’s key to your metabolism. Fat, on the other hand, is just—fat. Many diets also leave you feeling deprived, hungry, and finding time to prepare a healthy, nutritious meal can often be a real chore. When you’re rushed, you often make poor choices, reaching for fast food or take-out options that are high in calories and fats and low in nutrition. How can you have a nutritious meal that’s easy to prepare, tastes great, and will help you reach your weight loss goal?

Our Little Girl’s Baptism

The question is: Did we get everything done before the baptism? We were trying to finish Our Main Floor Renovation before the baptism. (See Part: One and Part: Two) Well, we had several more set backs. The biggest one is that I was not feeling well, I had an infection, that I think was related to the delivery, and put me out of commission for several days. We almost cancelled the party but then on Friday afternoon I was back to normal, but there wasn’t much time left to finish getting the house and food ready, since the Baptism was the next day. Of course, the family all pitched in, and the party was a success.
I will show you more of the renovation, hopefully later this week.
On about the Baptism. Our girl is one month old and we had her Baptized Saturday.

Here is the dress she wore, which I made in sewing class when I was in high school, in hopes of having a girl some day. Who would have known I would have been able to use it five times?

After the Baptism we were able to take some group shots. Here we are with our dozen children.IMG_9378

Cleaning the Kitchen Sink

I know I have seen other people blog about cleaning their sinks. I have been using these Shaklee Cleaning products for 12 years now, and I don’t use any other cleaners. Here is the sink, in an investment home, that we have been using for cleaning painting supplies, rags that were used for wiping excess caulk, grout and putty knives and many other construction items. We tried to wipe down the sink when we were done each time, but there still remained a coating that really needed to be cleaned.

Before

After

IMG_8233 IMG_8234The best part is that it is non-toxic, smells great, and works. The safety of my family is important.

The Main Floor Renovation Part 3:The Hardwood Floors are Started

So we finally got our wood. We ordered it in November and just received it last Friday. The place we ordered it from was having trouble getting it from their supplier. It is not even the color we ordered. We hope we like it as much as the original color. We had to wait 72 hours for the wood to acclimate before we could start so we were able to work on it 3 days this week, and we have about half of it done.
Here is a picture of what we have done so far.IMG_9198

Our First Weekend With our New Baby, along with our 5 grandchildren

Wouldn’t you know that our first weekend home with our new daughter also included our 5 grandchildren.  Our oldest daughter and her husband had a chance to go on a trip (you could see pictures of her trip here) and had no one else to watch their 3 children. What’s three more? We came home from the hospital on a Sunday and we got their children on a Tuesday night until Sunday night.
Then on Thursday night our oldest son called. He had planned to go out of state to a friend’s wedding, with his wife, Friday morning, and their sitter they had lined up had to cancelled. So we told him to bring his two children over. What’s 2 more?
So needless to say that weekend was hectic fun. We had 10 of our children, and our 5 grandchildren, 7 were 5 and under. Fortunately our older children really helped out tremendously. Going from no diapers for over two years, to four in diapers was a big adjustment.
Here is our new baby (one week old) with her two nieces and three nephews.

Our Main Floor Renovation:Part 2

If you remember we were going to be putting in hardwood floors, on our main level of our house, when it snowballed into several HUGE projects. You could see Part 1 here.
Well we painted the ceiling in the kitchen and family room where it was bad and of course, hubby wanted to do the rest of the main floor ceiling while everything was torn apart and we had extra ceiling paint. It does look a lot better!!

Chandelier Redo

Lighting in and outside of a home, makes such a difference in style and atmosphere. By just spray painting a existing light fixture could make a dramatic change in a room.
This chandelier was picked up at a Salvation Army.
