One of the ways we save money is by looking for sales on food and making meals with what we have in the house. One of the things I like to do is when I go to the grocery store is to check if they sell meat ends. That is the ends of the meat they sell in the deli section. There are several smaller markets that I know of that sell the meat ends for much cheaper than the regular price. Unfortunately none of these stores are close by. So when I am able to stop at the market, I will usually check to see if they have any meat ends.
Check out the price I paid ($1.19 per pound). I got 10 pounds of meat for $11.97. What a deal!
You are probably thinking how are you going to use 10 pound of meat?
We usually don’t buy 10 pounds but we do use them several ways. Here are some of our favorite ways.
10 Uses for Deli Meat Ends
We cut up the meat ends and use it for:
- Sub sandwiches
- Topping for Salads
- Ham and cheese omelets
- Snacks with cheese and crackers
- Cut up into cubes for an appetizer tray
- Cut up very small along with vegetables, cheese, and salad dressing and serve in a pita pocket
- Make a lettuce wrap
- Make a wrap with tortillas
- Ham and cheese quesadillas
My family likes when I bring the meat ends home!
At the deli counter you could even choose what kind of meat you want or don’t want.
Have you ever bought meat end?
