Hi, how was your weekend? We had a great time yesterday celebrating our son, Thomas’ eighth birthday. I can’t believe he is that old already.
I want to share with you today about why I supplement and why I use the supplements I do.
Part of trying to live a healthier life 13 years ago, I started taking natural supplements. I felt better and had more energy. I have always taken some kind of vitamins, especially when I was pregnant or nursing (which seems like all the time, literally! I am still nursing my 14 month old, LOL), but I did not always notice a difference when I did. When I ran out of my natural iron supplement, while I was nursing, several months after I made the change, I decided to use the iron I had left in the cabinet that the doctor prescribed. After a short time, I was REALLY tired, and I was wanting to sleep ALL the time. Then I realized it might be the change in the iron. So I bought the natural iron again and after a few days I was back to normal. What a difference!! The other iron was doing nothing!!!!
What most people don’t realize (I didn’t either) is the difference in nutritional supplements. Here is a simple explanation:
The first kind is what I was taking that was prescribed from my doctor. The last kind is the kind I have been using for the past 13 years and have never felt better. I am very passionate about helping others to feel better and to live a better life. That is why I love to share with everyone what I do and what I take to feel better.
There is no way I could possibly eat all the food necessary every day, to get all the nutrients my body needs. Even if I was able to our food supply is very denatured and the food today is not the same and does not have the same nutrients as it was years ago. I take the Shaklee Vitalizer daily strip, shown in the picture below on the left.
I would have to eat all the food listed below to get the same nutrients found in one serving of Vitalizer.
This is an interesting a cost comparison done by Doug Smith.
He did a line-by-line label comparison of Walgreens and GNC to Shaklee Vitalizer with iron. All comparison's were done online on 1/14/11.
Note that GNC's multi contains no bioflavin, quercetin, nickle, tin, vanadium, or boron.
Otherwise, to get the same amount of vitamins and minerals as Vitalizer, you would have to buy:

MegaRed omega fish oil: $29.99 X 2
Naturemade probiotic: $11.49 X 1

A few questions for you... Do you have any information about allergens in these vitamins, such as gluten, soy, dairy, corn, citrus? Citrus is an uncommon one, but I've got the allergy. :( My other question is: how frequently do they have a 'month of free membership' deals?
ReplyDeleteThanks! Andrea
