Corn Dipping: How to Boil, Butter, and Eat Corn on the Cob!

We love to have corn on the cob this time of the year. It is so fresh and tasty. This year the corn crops were good, so we have been able to buy the corn for 10 for a dollar. What a deal! It is a great side to serve at family cookouts and get togethers. The Corn Dipping is fun for everyone. (video below)

Corn Dipping

We like to shuck the corn (pull off the leaves and silks of the corn) and leave the stem on. We use the stem to make it easier to dip the corn into the butter and hold it for eating.

We fill a large stock pot with water. Cover the pot and bring the water to a boil. Then we put the corn in the pot with the stems up. More corn could fit into a pot this way.

Then bring the water to a boil again. At this point the corn will be done and is ready for the dipping.

Melt butter in a pan and then add to a container with hot water.

The butter will float on top.

Then dip the corn into the butter and water. The butter will cling to the corn and you will have butter on every kernel of corn. Yum!

The children love to do the dipping, and the corn is their favorite part of the meal. Just make sure you cook the corn within a day or two of when you buy it to ensure freshness.

  1. I've never seen that done. I was going to show DH and he said I saw it. Evidently he did this growing up but never shared it with me! Where did you get the tall jar? I want to try it.
